Dearest Rick
can you give us a price shipped for the rockhopper transfercase gears for the us spec truck (95-97 in my case)? Others as well as myself are very intersted in this. You sent me a short an email suggesting $1500 au. Can you please comment with authority as to if these gears will work with the us trucks? perhaps you could specify compatibility with the 91-92, 93-94, and 95-97 trucks?

perhaps a group buy could be organized?

your favorable comments on this matter would contribute greatly to this forum and likely spawn discussion for days to come. Wouldn't that give you a warm fuzzy feeling deep in your ausy boosums?

Reminds me of actionjackson's rig.

Have any pictures of the trimming you did to fit those meats?

I will take a couple of close up pics of the wheel arches where we trimmed.

any axle breakages?

None as yet, but I have done about 4 free wheeling hubs. Im not keen to upgrade these, as they are cheap and easy to replace. A bit like having a fuse I reckon.

I think he's talking about the pinion spacers. Rather than the crush sleeves, he used solid spacers. Am I right?

You are exactly right. Well done.

SO 40's will fit with 4.5" of lift?!!! How much trimming did you do? I'm looking to run 36's with 4" of lift.

4in, not 4.5. About a half inch all the way around the rear wheel arches, and a bit off the front at the rear of the wheel arch.

Dusty, I will confirm and post by next monday on your enquiry.
Im not sure about the whole Aussie boosum thing though....

Thanks to the guys for linking the pics, it completely slipped my mind! Also, thanks to all for the kind words on my 80. It gives me a fuzzy feeling, just not in the boosum.

It's the spacer that holds the pinion in the right place in contact w/ the ring gear, right?

Well, that's what i was wondering myself, that's why i asked and i figured you were guessing since you ended the sentence with a question mark. But now it appears that you were correct.

Thanks.

At today's exchange rate that is ~$1,200 US plus shipping & customs & whatnot. Probably US $1,500 landed.

The spacer maintains the preload on the pinion bearings. With a crush sleeve the pinion nut is tightened until the bearing preload is correct, crushing the sleeve to size. On a solid spacer it's machined to size or set with shims, slightly stronger and allows higher torque on the flange nut. Pix in this write up;
