Searched around and can't find anyone who has mounted any rotopax water or fuel containers to a 200 series factory rails. I know there are general mounts but wanted to see if anyone had figured it out. I don't have a aftermarket roof rack since if I did the truck would not fit in my garage. Any ideas anyone? I plan to take them on and off as needed.

I do see where one person on the FjCruisers forums pushed their rails together and then used Rotopax universal mount. I guess that might work?

hello very interested also; I was thinking about buying extra cross bars so its move stable. keep me posted.

I've order some things and will report back with pics once I get them installed.

I plan to turn it long ways and then on the opposite side use the Yakima mount and Slee bracket for my High Lift Jack. I think I will have just enough clearance for garage.

I completed the set up for both the Rotopax and the high lift hack roof mount. Both on the factory rails. I couldn't get really good pics. Both very solid. I used stainless bolts and self locking nut with the backer that came with the rotopax universal mount.

The Slee brackets worked great with the Yakima might mounts. Can't decide which way to turn jack. I have the neoprene cove and afraid it will unzip I'd I have jack end on the year.

You drilled right through the bars, right?

No worries about compromising their load carrying abilities with a hole through two parts of the aluminium? How thick is the material on the bars.

I like the quick and clean solution, no fancy roof racks needed. I tend to only use a Yakima box up there, and only for clothing and some toys. Carrying gas has always been an issue, usually ending up in the very back of the truck...not good, I like your idea.

Yes, drilled through the factory bars and used the supplied RotoPax backing bracket on the bottom which really boosted the strength. The aluminum is pretty thick and I used new stainless bolts with the self locking stainless cap nuts I picked up at State Trailer Supply. It is very solid.

I can stack another dual pack on top of these to give me 8 gallons total if needed. If you want to save some cash go to eBay and find RotoPax "factory blemished" units at substantial discount. I can't tell the difference and they are on the roof anyway...even came with the snap clips to hold them together. I think they may have been demos.

It works for me. I just decided that rear tire carriers and Jerry cans were not for me so this setup complements the ARB regular bumper and gives me more over landing distance (even though the factory 25+ gallon tank is much larger than the other rigs I would be traveling with.). Hope to use it on a South Padre Island Run where fuel is required if you plan to play in the sand. I want to get this stuck and watch the crawl mode pull it out like that video floating around on the 200 threads.

My Padre run was 140 on sand. Used 24 gallons over 3 days. Brought 8 gallons in cans.

Crawl got me unstuck multiple times in so cal dunes this month.

Thanks Beno. That was a weird question that guy was asking.

Since I now have a full roof rack, I call sell this kit to mount the hi lift to factory bars. I'll let it go for $50 plus the ride. This would include the Slee kit and the Yakima part. PM me if interested.

I am working on removing the end caps from the LC200 roof rack cross bars so that I can see what might be the reinforcing inside the crossbars. I have the screws soaking in Kroil. Mine are very tight. If I drill to mount the universal rotopax plate, I would like to know what is inside there. Does anyone know if there is internal structures?

The aluminum crossbars are hollow based on my drilling of them. Thus the need to put a backer plate of some type.

It's stout. With the backer it should be fine.

I was able to remove one of the end pieces. There are two longitudinal spars inside that act as braces. Much like the inside of an aircraft wing. Surprisingly, they are not located at the 1/3 and 2/3 positions when viewed from the end. If your intent is to miss these spars then install your bolts on a line connecting the screws on each end that secure the end pieces. Better to remove the end and it is obvious--but not until you actually look at it. Your natural inclination if to bolt through the highest point. That will work but you will be very close to the spar. BTUMAN's term stout is apt. The cross bar behaves like a truss.

I am going to scoop up that hi-lift bracket from Slee next week. I started a thread on this topic a few months ago, at that point there was nothing out there. Love mighty mounts as well, use them for my maxtraxx. Super multi-purpose

I can't remember if I sold it or not- the mighty mount and Slee adapter for the high lift. I was asking $50 for it all. Let me know if interested and I will look for it. I had it all together in a box. Would save you some cash. But for you- it would only be the ride cost.

If you still have it I will take it. 50 would be a steal! Let me know, I will take it off your hands the next time we hit some trails
