my first 45 was a troopy i bought from marv that came from saudi arabia. it was lefthand drive and was in pretty good shape as far as rust goes. it was alot of fun and my friends and i took it on a good roadtrip, fourwheel drums and all, but i had always wanted an lv. before i knew about mud i bought an fj40 and had seen a pic of an lv somewhere and figured one would turn up for sale sooner or later.

i bought this 45v from jsaltlick a while back and the build certainly has gone alot slower than i expected. mostly because i tend to start new projects in the middle of current ones, but i'm trying to cure myself of that. when i bought this truck it was a right hand drive and since it was in the neighborhood i let wally from poor wally's landcruiser emporium convert it to lefthand drive and install the vintage air unit i had bought for it. so, when the vehicle got to me it was running great, just needed some tuning, interior and paint. i guess since i had a running fj40 that i had been working on for the last 4 years, this one could be a longterm project. one thing led to another and i bought a 2h and some cable lockers for it. unfortunately, the cable lockers are now going into my 62, but the 2h is in.

so here's my old fj45. one pic after i did a springover and a couple from our roadtrip. i liked it alot, but i'm definitely more excited about the lv build.

plans for the 45:
so far i've done all the easy stuff. i pulled all the doors and glass off and out of it. interior is stripped, and the seats have been recovered along with the door panels with a tan pleather-like substance. i've stripped the firewall and frontend and coated it with por-15 and plan to do the same to the rest of the frame, belly and interior floor. i had to cut out a rocker due to rust and plan on replacing it and the other rocker with some square tubing for sliders. a few rust spots here and there that need patching and some paint and it'll be good enough for me. i do plan on insulating it heavily since it will have a loud diesel and a/c. i have some disk brake hubcap wheels for it and i'm debating on wether or not to paint it with the two-tone scheme. i've never painted a vehicle and hear it's alot harder, but that's the way i'm leaning right now. olive brown and cygnus, maybe.

sorry i don't have more of this work done for ROTM, but i've been rather lazy lately. january really sneaked up on me.

looks good but we need more pictures!!!
that was the substance of every other post on my build thread for awhile :)
can't wait to see this guy on the road. go two tone. i was surprised how easy it is to tape off the middle and I had never painted beofre either. nothing like jumping in head first.

i'll get some more pics. my buddy has my camera at the moment. i think you're right about the two tone. couldn't be that hard.

like i said, it was a perfectly fine running vehicle when i bought it:D

but that's how alot of these projects start anyway, right?

Tell that guy to watch his aim!!! Jeeps are for that sort of repulsive act. Really though that's an awesome rig. If I had something like that in my area people would snap their necks just checking it out!!

Some day, hopefully soon, you will have one in your area. At least in Atlanta. :)
