roof rack that slee sales

Pimp and others with the full or 3/4 rack, i have the 3/4 ARB roof rack. Love it, but don't like the wind noise. I can't use the sunroof with the rack on there because of the noise. How is it with the outback rack? Looks like it covers the sunroof, so going down the road it has to be noisy?

yes it is noisy, not as bad as my wilderness rack on the 80....but it still makes noise, I took the full rail off and went to the 1/2 rail(more like 1/3) and it helped. Was thinking about removing the sunroof hatch as well. Fact is, it makes noise, it really doesn't bother me but it does bother my folks when they ride with me. That said.....the function of the rack is perfect for my use and would buy the same again.

I will agree with Landpimp that the full length rack makes a lot of noise if the sunroof is open. The additional wind noise is not noticable to me with the sunroof closed. Keep in mind that I am running MT's and I lost about 1/3 of my hearing playing soldier in the early 70's.

Understandable. I just love my sunroof and like to use it, but can't in the summer time because it's just too damn loud. I actually took the rack off a few times just so i could use the sunroof. Too much work and many back pains later i decided to leave it on and deal with it.

I feel the same way. You know those plastic sunroof deflectors are pretty ugly but they work damn good. I might just pick one up.

Hoser, i have one of those cheesey Toyota wind deflector for the sunroof. I tried running with it on and the rack, same noise, no difference.

I was thumbing through the ARB catalog and they offer a, well it looks kinda like a rubber cap that fits over the front end of the rack and just rolls on, kidding it doesn't roll on but it does look like a rubber. I wonder if that makes any difference in noise?

Ah, I see. A Thule/Yakima deflector might be able to work. Or perhaps fab one up yourself.
