Roof Rack Runners/slats question

I will be taking off the roof rack runners soon..to clear my garage door. They almost scrape now but I wanted to take them off. I presume the runners simply have 3M tape adhesive on them .... or do the runners slide off as if they are on a rail?:

The runners are on a rail that is 3M taped to the roof. With the end caps removed the runners should just slide off and you'll be left with the rail.
