Timely thread, I recently knocked the rust off my old conn-ferr & repainted it, I'll probably do the plywood thing, maybe drill a bunch of 1-inch holes in for weight savings/tie-down points. I think the expanded steel is the best all-around solution, Pighead has it on his herculined monster 55, looks good, sturdy and lightweight. Thanks also for the tip on the dual J-can holder from Slee. I almost bought the $110 version mentioned earlier in the thread! Got 3 weeks to get the rig outfitted for Death Valley!
