Roof Channel Sealer

Re-finishing my roof. Need to reseal the channel/rivet area. What's the best materail to sue to seal this? Looks like the PO had silicone caulk. Wondering if there isn't a better material to accomplsh this. Also wondering if I should apply the sealer before or after paint the roof.

3M makes a seam sealer that is great for the raingutter. I put a heavy bead down inside the gutter before I sat the top down and then put another bead around the top edge after I riveted. Wet your finger and it'll smooth it out nice and you're set.

You can get a silicone based caulk at any home improvement store. Its flexable and paintable. Used it on two tops and never had a problem with it.

3M Fast n' Firm sealer. Works like a champ, just don't do it when it is really hot outside, it prefers temps in the 80's...
