CB and first aid kit is a good idea. the jerry cans aren't a huge deal unless you feel you need them for the drive down. There's always options to get gas before or after trails in moab. unless you plan to wheel nothing but trails in BFE and the surrounding area, you will pass by a gas station in town every day. which is also good if you need ice refills.
yes there are campfires allowed at BFE. there are fire rings around the camping area. bring your own wood, as there is no cutting allowed on their property. no pallets as the fire pits, over time, will shift locations and we do not want nails left on the ground where everyone drives.
fingers crossed that it's not too hot this year...but it is moab, you never know. with memorial day weekend pushed back further than the past couple years, we were pushed into June on this year.
there are places in town to refill water. GearHeads is one location that has water refills. or pick up some jugs at city market while in town. if you need non-drinking water, mill creek in town would be a good source to fill up a jug if needed. you'd have to make a short hike from the parking area to the creek. or one of the beach pullouts along 128 and use the colorado
apparently there is a natural spring as well...
"Matrimony Springs - Located on the river road (Hwy 128) that is located right off US 191 at the bridge on the northern end of Moab right at the Colorado River. It is a natural spring with water that comes right out of the Mesa. It is just east of HWY 191 (the main street into Moab) on hwy 128 (The colorado river road). Their is a pull off on the right side with a large cliff and a metal pipe coming out. This is where you fill up your water. There will probably be other people here doing the same."
