well....finally snapped and decided that enough was enough and i was going on a road trip in my BJ42, iv been wanting to take a trip like this for a few years now and the lack of work at home has kinda triggered this so...plan is i dont really have a plan!

I spent my spare time for the past few weeks iv been trying to get my truck up to snuff to make this trip...switching my tires back to something a bit more road friendly, a 12V converter, stereo, painted and threw on my spare HT that kind of thing...anyways, been driving all day now and have a few pics to go up on here. im pretty happy with the fuel economy i have been getting and the truck is running like a champ! probably not much of a road trip for some of you guys but...for me its doin pretty good!

are you in Canada ? i swear that i saw you today driving about 20 minutes from Merritt eastbound i was going west bound with no roof or doors .

i was also road trippin.

yup, that would have been me.

well...got back into edmonton today, when i last posted up i was staying in hinton for the night and made it to edmonton the next day. I only had to be in edmonton on tuesday morning for some school stuff. im going to check NAIT out tomorrow morning...so i was killing time in west ed and a buddy from lethbridge called me up and said i should come down for a bit soooo i was back on the road again doin the 6 hr drive down south to lethbridge. thats the furthest south i had been and it was actually an alright drive, i just wasnt keen on doing it again to get back up to edmonton the next day...i have some pics of a buddies cruiser...thing that he made for mudding in lethbridge, hardly a cruiser anymore but still quite the creation with a 350 small block putting out around 400 hp, 35's domestic axles and driveline yadda yadda...will try to post pics soon.

anyways...heading up to grand prairie tomorrow and will hopefully be staying there for a few days,

looked at my odometer today and saw that i have driven 2000+kms since saterday morning...i was kinda surprised lol

Out of curiosity, what has your fuel economy been so far? I have been working on my 44 trying to figure out where my fuel economy is going (was only 17MPG U.S, now I have it up to 20ish). I know everyone says 24+mpg but I haven't seen it. So far I have found that my injectors needed rebuilt, IP diaphragm, priming pump leaking, new diesel filter, new air filter, and rear left wheel was sticking (that one gave me the major boost in MPG). Oh and my 2B only has 134K KM on the odometer! But I have to say it does run really good.

Little early for road tripin in B.C., but work is work and gotta go where work is and what a better way to do it.The weather didnt look all that great for ya yesterday, suposed to be thunder showers to day in Pincher creak area.

well i just got to where i was heading in sask the other day...looked at the odometer and did some math....3700+ km's since i left vancouver island saterday morning milage i had been getting when i was on the island was about 600k to about 60L of fuel i havnt gone through the milage from my trip yet though. i could do the math and figure out how much fuel cost me to get out here...not too much i dont think...ill have to go through my fuel log before i get to internet again cause i dont have any where im staying...

the weather was a bit fricken cold there when i was comming up just north of calgry i ran into some SNOW by the time i got to my friends place up by grand prairie there was 4 inches of snow on the ground and i was locking up the hubs and going into 4 wheel once i hit the grid roads, so sleeping in the truck for those nights was really not much fun but hey....its all part of the experience i guess haha

BJ44 best of luck getting good milage out of your truck, all my milage info is from my truck rolling on some 31x15Rx10.5 road tires with a 4 speed tranny so not the best, i would imagine my dad will be getting better milage when he gets his turbo'd 3B with a 5 spd and 3.88's going...

The big thing to remember with the diesel in order to get optimum mileage is don't rev them too high or work them too hard. I like to keep the 3B at a little over 2000 rpm but you also need to keep an eye on the pyrometer. You'll see the pyrometer climb a little faster if you start working it hard.

We're starting our road trip on Wednesday, Guatemala City, Guatemala to British Columbia (and the wife has to do the driving 'cause I busted my leg)!!
