Road trip advice needed
I'll try to keep it short and hopefully this is the proper forum.
I mentioned to the wife (Panamanian) about taking a camping road trip in our LX470 and asked where she would like to go. Her answer,surprising to me, was Utah and/or grand canyon. We are in Florida, so begins my dilemma as I never been out west other than flying to a meeting in Denver. I would like to do some mild wheeling and semi remote scenic camping while we are out there. A few questions and my thoughts below.
1. When and where? I am looking at Canyonlands currently but open to suggestions.
2. What park maps/books for route and trail planning are recommended? I can get topos once I know where I am going.
3. I will be outfitting the Lexus over the next year or so (minimum) in preparation for this trip. What essential items would a Florida flatlander not think of?
I am sure more questions will come up, but these are on the front of my brain right now. Thanks in advance.
