Someone spotted Ripley this Wednesday! Wyatt and I are heading to sandstone canyon today and maybe tomorrow to camp and search . any help is welcome!

We went out yesterday. Lots of dog poop, some fresh, around the watering areas. The canyon is narrow and best explored with a fat tire MTB or on foot.

Sean and I are off this weekend. Let us know if we can help!

There is no cell where Tim will be camping so if anyone can make it you might just have to head out there. Google will take you to Sandstone Canyon, just follow the fork to the left...

Any patrolling and calling in the split mtn area would be helpful. Ham 146.490

I think Tim is out in fish Creek somewhere, so he probably won't see this, but I am going to head out there tomorrow morning. Please let me know if you're interested in joining.

I'll likely be taking my 4runner instead of the 40.

To find Tim, follow the blue arrow in the picture above, Sandstone canyon. He is there.

Sorry to hear about Ripley getting lost in the desert. Have you tried the trick of leaving a piece of your clothing with your scent on it (socks maybe) near where you last saw him?

Here's the latest as I know it. Ripley was spotted Tuesday night in Sandstone Canyon. Wednesday I met Tim out there and we did some serious searching. We found lots of signs of a dog with paws and poop about Ripley's size up Sandstone. We left food to try to lure him down because that canyon network is long and there are lots of little places he could hide. When Tim got there yesterday, the food was gone, the rocks it was on were licked clean, and there was fresh poop so Ripley was likely there. Last night Tim, Wyatt, and his daughter's boyfriend Gavin camped and bread crumbed the canyon back to the tent to try to again lure him down. Tim also set up his game camera in front of food. This morning Tim was contending with a brake caliper that fell off and snapped the brake line so had not had a chance to check the camera. Randy stepped into action to assist. That's the latest I know. The area is such that only foot traffic or something narrow like a dirt bike or MTB (fat tire..) would get up there. I think more feet on the ground would help since as you can see from the pics, there are two canyons to be explored and they are pretty long.

No worries. I wish I could help more. I really wish I could be out there, just can't get away from the adulting.

I'll be heading for borrego in a few hours to stay the night. I'll make my way up the canyon in the morning.

We came home last night. Out of time and provisions.

Linda and I are in borrego now. Headed out the door in a few for sandstone canyon.

@Adarcy maybe I’ll see you out there. We’re in a white 5th gen 4Runner.

Does anyone have GPX / KML of where they searched? Attached is where I searched.

My next door neighbor came out with me today and we hiked further back into Sandstone from the furthest point that you can drive to in Sandstone Canyon. Covered about 6 miles. Drove various areas throughout Fish Creek getting to and from Sandstone. Got the word out with lots of folks camping in Fish Creek tonight.

Met up with Hamilton and Linda and left a bunch of dog food with them. They are setting up camp at the end of Sandstone tonight.

The attached gpx is from my watch for the hiking portion in the back of sandstone.
