Sold the FJ80 last week

Still in the same predicament
Maybe i'll just go buy a used camry 8*)
I think my problem is mainly that I want the style of the old vehicles (1940-70s) but I need the comfort of the new 1990's stuff

Still looking around, needs to be under 10k for initial purchase price as I refuse to have a car payment ever again, will of course expect to pay more after purchase to be able to do the offroading I want

Requirements,
-Must not hate the hassle of buckling my baby girl in her childseat in the back seat
-Offroad, be able to do most all the trails in the area my FJ80 w/lockers + 33's was just about right althou was always concerned about rocks under me and lack of power
-Onroad, needs to be nice inside and drive nice for roadtrips
-Must be able to have a conversation with someone while driving without screaming....

Right now my top contenders in order,
4runner
3rd gen or 4th gen, I think this is what I will ultimately go with...
Smaller than the FJ80 better on gas, still very reliable

Range Rover p38a
Drove one the other day and really liked it, but still very concerned about reliability, I would rather spend on upgrades and not repairs
Same gas mileage as a FJ80

LX450/FJ80
Big, bad on gas, great everywhere else
meet all my needs but they felt big and heavy and I did not like the stopping power, and I had front/rear disks.

Xterra
Last time I recall sitting in one of these they felt cheap, would be going for the 1st-gen for cost, similar gas mileage as a 4runner

Other contenders
Land Rover Discovery I / Series
Had a Discovery II and do not like vehicles with little right-leg room where the transmision alcove comes into the leg room area, the FJ80 was pretty good for this. These are also much older and the Series rovers dont do highway well at all

FJCruiser
I dont want a car payment, rear vision not that great nor the back doors

Jeep JK 4door
I dont want a car payment

H3
shrug

Jeep Cherokee 1999 or newer
shrug
