A few weeks ago I took the stock 200 to go camping. I had a hitch basket in the back and some camping gears on the roof. At 70/75 mph on uneven surface, I felt the cruiser oscillating side to side for a bit. I also felt it on wind gust. I don't recall that my stock 80 series did this. Does anyone experience this? What can I change to tame this?

I immediately ordered a OME medium suspension and UCA's from Kurt. I hated the stock ride...after adding front and rear bumpers, I had no choice but to modify. The ride is now more firm but not overly harsh. I still don't think it compares to the ride of my 2001 4Runner LTD with Bilsteins but I can live with it. The 200 is a huge, heavy rig. My 2 cents.

I noticed the rear would hit the bump stops going over a "gradual" speed bump (designed to be taken at ~15 mph) when I had a bike rack and 4 bikes in the back. Towing a trailer, I had to install a set of helper air bags to help stabilize the ride. IMO the rear springs are soft to favor a plush ride over serious stability, given the weight of the vehicle.

No great solutions for you that don't require some $. If you're going to add several hundred pounds in the back on a regular basis you'll need to upgrade the suspension. Air bags are good for occasional use (and cheap); heavier springs are zero effort to use once installed but may make the ride stiff and bouncy depending on your normal load.

I'm not planning to tow a lot, and I only go camping couple times per year. I just don't want to be nervous about this.
