Hey guys..So I've had my 94 FZJ80 for about 9 months now..Bought it with 174K on it from the Joe schmoe dealer. Exterior was in good shape and interior was ok..Drivers seat was reupholstered with Vinyl..not bad looking at all.. After I drove the first 100 or so odd miles my oil light came on.. I thought it would just be a one time thing but no.. infact the light kept coming on before every 100 miles.. I read some threads on here and went forward with replacing the PCV hoses/Valve and the airintake hose. Still no go.. it was smoking on deceleration .. acceleration..pinging and started missing a whole lot on and off.. I got some advice from CDan and Proffits cruisers and they told me that it was probably bad O rings.. I inquired about getting a used engine from Proffits .. since it was going to be cheaper then doing a rebuild..
Long story short.. I ordered Plugs/Wires/Rotor/Dist Cap/Air filter from CDan and a used MAF from Proffits and replaced all these items one evening...The plugs had an ash build up on them and the cap had the same ashy buildup on the terminals.. All I have to say is.. it felt like butter..so smooth.. felt like I immediately gained power..but the smoothness is out of this world.. and it doesn't even smoke a bit..not at all..and this is the biggest thing... I have been down to borrego twice ... and have put down approx 1500 miles.. no oil light yet.. and yes i did check the dipstick.. its half way down .. I'm thinking that the light will probably chime in around 2K miles.. which is quite normal with 186K on the clock now.. I'm amazed how electrical components would take care of the oil burning/consumption issue.. So if anybody is having oil consumption issues.. I would definitely replace the components that I replaced.. and thanks to everybody here... been a great help..
