has any one had any luck with after market tire pressure monitoring system. I've seen mixed reviews for the orange electronics system found amazon model p409 139.00 there is also the tpms system found in the Australian 4wd mag www.inawise.com for 380.00 if anyone has or tried theses system please give a shout

I have a mate that runs a similar setup since he has a double tandem trailer he takes offroad. He's had flats and not noticed, especially when going slow over terrain. So he decided to install a tpms on the trailer and on his troopie. It seems to work ok - we were out bush for 2 weeks and I didn't hear him complain of false alerts etc.

The tpms sensor units are relatively large and hang off the valve stem quite a bit, so not sure how durable the setup is if they scrub onto rocks and stuff. i.e. I'd be somewhat worried they catch on stuff offroad and rip off...

I can see their use for a trailer etc, when it's not obvious if you have a flat in some situations.

cheers,
george.
