Has anyone bought one of the steel replacement tailgates from on-line? I have found several web sites that sell them for about $ 270.00 with shipping. I have given up on the U-Pull-It's, they are always rusted out and I hate to have it painted without one. I'm just not sure what I will get for the money.

I have an 88 mini truck. I sometimes haul firewood and such so I think steel would be better but thanks for the post. I going to just order one so I will report back on the quality when it shows up.

These guys put out some stout high quality parts, wish I would have went with them instead of Hannemann for my fenders (poor fit and finish with hannemann). I've also heard of people hauling firewood etc with the Toy Fiberglass beds with no issues - just to illustrate the durability
Yeah, I cant recall the exact one. But it shipped in like two weeks-painted pefectly. It is a little smaller gauge metal BUT not by that much. All you have to do is transfer the hardware.
OH, you WILL need to buy two new snap bushings for the internals-they will break when you pull out the handle.
I think mine was like 225.00 shipped or thereabouts.
Perfect fit/0 issues.

Well I got the tailgate and it seems to be a good match for the original, everything bolted up well.
Only question I have is it sits about 1/4" lower than the top of the bed. Should there be rubber or plastic spacers under the hinges? The truck was not all together when I got it so don't know what was there before. If nothing else I will put plastic or Stainless washers under them.
