Anybody know if this is any easy job for a novice to tackle . Figured I would just follow old one . Just not sure about getting in behind dash .

Not hard to do, just requires a bit of patience.
The dash pod comes off with a few philips screws, but do spend a bit of time putting it back on carefully as it has to sit in place correctly to sit flat.

I changed the speedometer cable on a FZJ70 I don't think that would be any different in a BJ, it's an easy job, just be patient if is the first time that you take apart the dash because depending of the time of the dash it breaks easily on the corners.
