One of the passenger door fabric speaker covers on my 2000 LX470 ripped, so I ordered a replacement from the stealer, who said it probably would just snap into place. Now that I have it, I’m not so sure. The old one is not popping out, and I'm uneasy about forcing it. Does anyone know about replacing these? Do I have to remove the whole door panel to put the new one on? If so, how do I do that?
Judging from the diagram in the FSM, it should pop out. If you're very unsure, you could always remove the door panel and pop it out from the inside. Since you have the replacement part, you should have an idea of how it goes in. Is that fabric cover removeable (can it be washed?)? The PO must have propped the driver's door open w/ his shoe a number of times, so I'd be interested in removing the fabric and washing it, if possible. How much did the grille/cover cost? Is that the front row or second row?
It's for the rear door. The cover looks like it's got a couple guides and then 4 holes for screws. It cost $60. Do you know how the door panel comes off? Do you pry it off? And no, the fabric isn't removeable. It's glued on around the backside.
The 03LX FSM says to
1) remove the door inside handle bezel #2 (a little plastic cover) w/ a taped small screwdriver. That exposes a screw, which you remove.
2) gently pry the rear top of the bezel downwards and the rear bottom of the bezel upwards to pop out the bezel #1.
3) Next remove the power window switch by using a taped screwdriver on the front edge of the panel (the rear edge has a hinge that tucks under the door panel, so DO NOT pry the rear edge). Disconnect the power window connector.
4) Remove door courtesy light w/ taped screwdriver.
5) now, you are ready to remove the door panel. There are 3 screws and 4 clips (2 screws at the bottom of the panel, one near the power window switch area, 2 clips at the rear edge of the panel, 2 clips at the front edge. Pull trim upward to remove.
It does not pop out you have to take the door panel off.
There is 3 or 4 screw you have remove at the bottom of the door, then 1 or 2 cilps you have to push the center pin in,then use a small screw driver at the fwd tip of the window switch module and push in,then lift up,unplug the harness.
By the door open handle there is a screw you remove,it will not come off you have to use a small screw driver to carefully put the tip where the handle winge at and lightly lift up, there is screws that hold the door handle to the door remove those and the door should be ready to be removed.Put the window down, hold the door handle lightly pull out and push up.
Oh i almost forgot the light, when you put out the door just unplug the plug from the light assy,if you try to use a screw driver to pull the light assy from the front you might brake the clip that holds it in place.
