hello,

when repairing the electrical issu's to my LC 90 I had to put in a new ecu and ecu immobiliser.
ecu: 89661-60780
ecu immobilizer 89780-60160

now the car will not start because of a problem with the key (not coded)

after some googling: the key number is apparently coded in IC 93LC66. I can find this ic in the ecu immobilizer.

Can I unsolder the ic from the defective ecu immobilizer and transfer it to the other 2nd hand ecu immobilizer? Will the car start then? Or does the car's ecu need to be "flached"?

Should the car's ecu also be programmed to recognize the 2nd hand ecu immobilizer even though I transferred the ic93LC66?

I only have one key with the car and it is not a master key apparently (glove box does not open with it, but it is a black key with 2 buttons)

i contacted a car electronics specialists and he is asking 300 to transfer the data from both ecu's. i wonder if i can't solve the issue by transferring IC9LC66....

I am not sure about the 90, but the in the 100s you can do as you are asking and swap the immobilizer chips.

Time for a update …

resoldering was A nightmare and i ruiend the board. i had to buy another unit from the scrapyard.
I didn’t find a firm who could program the key’s a first. After A Month finaly, somewone who can do it!

I send te immobiliser unit and the keys.

installed on the car, key in the ignission and… yes the red light (immobilizer) goes out!. Butt…. No start 😔

check for codes and still code 99 ( immobilizer)

i found the spill controll valve relay behind the glove box ( i think) and it is ok.
craced A fuil line and the engine is not getting fuel…

shoud I dismantel the spill control valve? Or is my second hand ecu also bad?

( I gave the spill control valve 12v directly from the battery and I van hear it clicking)

FWIW, when I had ecu issues, my truck was also not getting fuel at the injectors. I also chased fuel spill valve but it was ecu the whole time. I would assume you have somehow not resolved the immobilizer issue yet, rather than assume a new part has mysteriously gone bad simultaneously.

The ecu i got was also a second hand one frome the scrapyard. (The original blows the fuse instantanious)

what could be triggering the code 99? The two chips from the keys are programmed and when i put the key in the ignission, the red ligt in the dash goes out, so the immobilizer ecu recognises the key or am i missing something ? ( there is no aftermarked alarm system)

does the car’s ecu also needs reprogramming? (According the key firm not)

My 90 doesn't have an immobilizer, so my experience is somewhat limited here. There are a few threads over at PradoPoint about the immobilizer - sounds like there are a few components that can go bad, including the RF ring. Is it possible that something isn't connected properly?

I have checked the connections and everything looks ok

strange that the immobilizer light Goes out when i isert the key and still no start 🤨. I keep having code 99 (immobilizer)

(when the key wasn’t programmed the light stayed on and also code 99, the light going out is An indication the key is read correct, or am I wrong?)

I can’t find an answer iff the immobilizer ecu has to be programmed in to the engine ecu

What year is your Land Cruiser? I have no experience with the 90 series, but assume it isn't OBD2.

As far as I know if the security light goes out the key is recognized by the immo and will start the engine.

I will do some research when I get a little time. If it is the immobilizer I bet we can figure it out.

today I have been checking the wirering. I have checked if the connectors are wired correctly (pin layout) and if the colors of the whirring is also ok. Everything checks out. The ecu connectors A,B,C are ok, the immobiliser connector is OK, the connector under the ignition is OK. I have checked continuity also and according to the diagram everything should be in order.

During my reading of the electric plan, I came across something that is on pin 8 of the transponder key computer. "J/B eu".....
MMM what could that be???

J/B... I think 'junction box" or am I wrong? under J/B ecu the wiring goes to 'cowl side panel LH'

I have opened the fuse box in the cab and there appears to be some ic's in it....

I think that the previous owner tried to start te car with 24V ..... I had to replace: engine eu, abs ecu, airbag computer, immobiliser.... could a defect in de fuse box "ecu" be the issue????

Is there an ecu in the fuse box of the cab??? If Yes how can I check it iff it's ok? All my fuses stay Ok.

Coud it be the signal isn’t getting to the engine ecu? i have checked continuity and its ok. Shoud I buy another immobilizer ecu? Or is it the engine ecu?

i have managed to track down the scrap car and bought the eniginue ecu. Now I have the engine ecu and immo ecu coming from the same car. Tried to start but.... only crank and no start.
What am I missing????? I put the key in, immo light goes out, but no start.

Any thoughts? If I can't solve it, I am affraid I have tho scrap a nice Prado with only 195,000 km

Wedid the same thing recently on a 120s prado... Unsure if it is the same thing but anyway here what we did:

Swap the internal from the key (the part with the buttons for remote door lock)

Swap the spool arround the ignition lock

Swap the black immobilizer ecu

Swap the ecu

Swap the remote door lock ecu somewhere in the back of the car

That worked for us...

In case you do not have remote controlled door lock, try to remove the spool from the ignition lock and attach the key from the donor car wirh a zip tie to it.

Hope this helps
