I bought an OME steering damper for my BJ74: part number OMESD24.

I tried the wedge fork and puller but they could not get the old damper disconnected from the truck.

I bought a tie rod end separator at NAPA for $25. It worked.

Just attempted mine (on a RHD HZJ73) with less success. Got the old one off no problem but the OME unit I got seems to be too small. Research on another site brought me to P/N OMESD40, but at full extension it seems to be too short.

The OME damper extends out to about 21 inches but the rack wants it to be able to extend out to 24 inches or so on full lock right turns. I'm totally new to steering dampers so if I've missed something obvious please proceed to berate my logic.

Also the new damper only came with one bolt. What size/grade hardware are you guys using?

Just got the OMESD24 on the truck, amazing how much easier the RIGHT part is to get on ;) Hello to my steering wheel again.
