Repair or Replace

What do you suggest, should I cut out and replace the damage or replace the complete kick plate with COT, I saw that SOR also has kick plates, but they must be lined with gold. It looks like my only damage follows the line of the floor pan.

You could cut it out and weld in new steel, but you may have other issues on the inner part of the rockers. Check it from underneath and see if you can poke through any of the areas. Rust normally starts from the inside out and is usually worse where you can't see it.

From the pics it doesn't look too bad. I would probably just cut it out and weld in new steel. Definitely grind off all the body filler to see if any other areas have rot.

The Repair

I did my first repair today. I have to do a little more grinding before I move to my next repair.

Very nice!!! A light skim coat of filler and she'll be as good as new.

Is that a bolt you welded onto the rocker?

Yes, I figured I can rest my foot there when my doors are off, I used it as my welding ground.
