Anyone got any tricks for removing injector seats?

With some twisting, plying, hammering and cursing I've got the six injectors out of my 1HD-T, but only four of the copper seats came out with the injectors. The other two are still sitting at the bottom.

There doesn't seem to be any obvious way to remove them. I thought of trying to tap a slightly oversize bolt into the seat and pull it out that way, but there seems to be a risk of it just stripping out and leaving me with a worse problem (if I can not get them out I will just leave them in there and not bother replacing them with the new ones).

Anyone got any tricks to share?

I used a very long pair of needle nose pliers, insert the closed pliers into the seats, then press the handles apart to create outward pressure, and just lift the seats out.

Other than that I suppose you could use some sticky tape on the end of a screwdriver...improvise.

Or you can buy a pry set. Its made up of small hooks and other devices for picking things out of tight places.

I guess the 1HD T must be in deeper because on the 1HZ I can get them with my fingers:D

I grab my wife's crochet hook and use that!

The problem is the washer seems to have welded itself into the head. I guess it must be glued in by carbon buildup or something; the other one that remained in the head came out easily using a blue plastic pen stuck into the hole, but I've hammered on this one with a screwdriver, pryed at it, etc, and all i've managed to do it make big grooves in the washer. It hasn't budged.

I think I'm gonna have to try the bolt trick. Just make sure it only taps into the washer and not the head :)

My "when all else fails" tool. Wrecked a few screwdrivers making it, however it has worked well since getting all the angles and shape correct.

That's a good looking tool.

I ended up using a bolt. Screwed it into the washer, grabbed the end of the bolt with some vice grips and gave a few good upward wacks on the grips with a wrench.

It didn't budge.

I thought perhaps I'd gone too far and screwed into the head, so I backed it off a turn...bolt promptly came loose from the washer.

Screwed it back in again, gave another couple of REALLY good whacks and finally--it came loose.

phew...
