What’s the secret to removing the door card on the back door? Even with the screw removed the latch seems to be solidly attached to something and I don’t want to use more force because I’m afraid I’ll break something. Ideas?

Thanks. For a while it didn't look like that was going to work, but after worrying it some more, something finally let it go and I was able to pull it out easily. Not sure what was holding it for so long, maybe a stray dollop of glue.

Hello,

Better late than never.

Remove the screw.

Push the latch forward until it separates from the card.

Very gently, pull it until the metal rod shows.

Using needle nose pliers, twist the plastic retainer away from the rod.

Move the latch downwards to release it from the rod.

Dust/dirt builds up on the inside side. Take the chance to clean it.

Hope this helps.
