I always thought tire should not exceed the amount inicated on the tire when hot. Granted I always fill when cold, but I am finding that if I put 34pi cold, hot it could go up to 36psi. The Michelin LTX M/S which I rently put on has a max on sidewall of 35psi.

Does this mean hot or cold?

Don't forget, there is a large margin of safety. A tire that has a max of 35 psi, would still be fine at over 45 psi, or more. I don't reccomend that you over inflate it, but a diffrence of only 2 psi over the max is nothing to worry about.;)

the guy at the U-not-to-be-named-hauling-company saw "55" on the sidewall of my wifes' tires & would not be pursuaded to believe the tag on the door jamb about 32 psi....they held fine for the three miles of driving until I aired them down. Steering was kinda 'floppy' as if the tires were only touching down the very center of the tread. Go figure.
