Got a bit of a hum at the front wheel of my Express AWD.
There is no play in the wheel or excess heat at the hub so I thought it might be a worn CV.
So I changed the axle assembly today the one I pulled out had this red dust on it.

Bearing??? It's the unit type where you get the whole hub.

You don't think it's iron oxide? Would think it's possible in a area two parts are touching each other will slight movement between them. All it takes is a like moisture. If a bearing was that dry to create dust would think it would have destroyed itself quickly.

I've seen a lot of that on almost every make of vehicle, I assumed it was always rust dust....as in rust would build up on the hub or the axle and there is a very minuscule amount of play between the shaft and the hub and it powers the rust. Also what kind of dust does your brake pads make? I've seen some make red dust.....
