No-one has recommended anyone in Massachusetts.

Buellar.. buellar... anyone?

In Waltham/Watertown, Massachusetts, look up Newton Street Auto. While not at all a Cruiser shop per se, the owner and his men can fix anything - they are knowledgeable, no pressure and great guys. I used to bring my SWEET '90 VW Jetta GLi as well as my 4Runner to them. Bring 'em a 6 of Heineken once in a while too. Not sure if they even drink but nice gesture

Good for Carbs...

MK Automtive
Center Street, exactly across from Utah County DMV
Provo, UT

There is a man there who is INCREDIBLE with carbs, and tuning and tweaking, got my 85 FJ60 to pass emissions and run like a champ, he knows how to adjust your carb.

In Kentuckiana area.... Not a Cruiser specific mechanic but is an import specialist. He owns his own shop, and has built VW race motors for me, worked on a BMW e34 that I owned, and turned wrenches on the 40 that I just sold. Never had to take anything back that he did EVER.

Shop Name: The Winning Formula
Owner/Mechanic: Mike Weinbrener
Location: Buechal Bank in Louisville Kentucky

How about the Kansas City area?

I know the question has been asked before, but I'm still hopeful for an answer!

Gunnison Colorado.
Duncan 4X4 on main street heading north out of town. I used to work for him and he is a frigging genius when it comes to 4X4's, especially Toys.

The information from this thread should be put into a dedicated page of reliable mechanics for people like me on the go.

My recomend for a diesel mechanic is for Surrey British Columbia. While Darell who is one of the lead mechanics has not worked on my wagon he has worked on other toyota diesels and 3Bs. He is nice, honest and fair and my wifes familly been using them for 20 plus years. He is very good.

Shop name is Gill's Service Station Ltd off of 74th and King Gorge. Even seen his son swap out a diesel from a ford truck.

If anyone needs a good mechanic in Salt Lake, I highly recommend Western States Auto. While driving to Salt lake in Dec. my rear main blew. I went through 3 quarts of oil between Montana and Utah. A friend recommended I take my cruiser this place, and boy did they do good work. In 3 1/2 days they replaced both the rear main and oil pan gasket, resurfaced the flywheel, and put in a new clutch. When they put it back together the throwout bearing was making a wierd noise, so they tore everything apart, put in a new bearing, and put it all back together in about 5 hrs. They also called me everyday and gave me an update of what was going on, which was something I really liked. Very friendly and very good work, if you need work and are in Salt Lake, I highly recommend them.

Anyone know a good TLC mechanic on the Coastal side of North County San Diego?

I know this is a little late but PROTRUX in San Marcos (North County) has a good reputation for reliable work on Toyota trucks. I know several people who service their trucks here:

Closer to San Diego proper I take my LC to The Truck Shop. I have been very pleased with them to date. They are much more reliable than the dealer and cheaper too.

Cruiser Mechanic In Calgary

Mike Ouellet at Pro-Active Automotive in Calgary Alberta has a lot of experience with Toyota Landcruisers and toyota diesels in particular. I think he worked at the local Toyota dealer for like twenty years before going out on his own. He's the only the only guy I'm aware of in town that specializes in Cruisers and Rovers (we won't go there). He fixed the leafspring bushings in my HJ61 when I first got it from my importer who some how managed to slide it through the provincial inspection with out repairing THEM. I won't mention any names RISING SUN IMPORTS!

In Los Angeles/San Fernando Valley:

K&H Import
The Land Cruiser Specialists
On Ingomar Ave don't know the street number x st. is Canoga
Call Richard 818-594-0088

I've had plenty of work done there on plenty of Cruisers. He's fast, reliable honest and reasonable. My wife's car (not a Cruiser) is there right now. He's about 2 miles from SOR so parts are plentiful too.

Anyone know of good mechanics in the Tampa Bay area, FL?
I guess I am not retracting from my recommendations, but I am just doing as much as I can myself these days. These guys I recommended are either too expensive or just not as experienced in LC's as I would have liked. Not bad mechanics but not what I am looking for.

Any new recomendations in South Florida would be gladly accepted, in the meantime I will tackle things bit by bit.

anybody from Utah?
