I've decided I'm most likely going to go with buying a rebuilt shortblock 22R.

From my local parts store (Schuck's) they have a shortblock for about $700 that they can order, the company that rebuilt it is Evergreen Engineering and also ATK apparently.

My only concern is that I don't really know anything about these companies, and the manager there said they'd use factory equivalent parts that they make; not straight Toyota OEM parts.

Is this a concern? Should I get the engine elsewhere?

Thanks :)

Warranty? We used to sell NAPA engines to our customers that didn't want to spend the bucks for a Jasper engine and they are all running fine today from what I can tell. I don't work at that shop anymore but this is a small town and I see the vehicles driving around every day. You don' t necesarrily need an expensive engine to have a good one. I though ATK was a decent company? I've never heard anything bad, but never bought anything of theirs either.

Evergreen and ATK are not the same company. Evergreen is a regional rebuilder out of Spokane Washington. They build a great product and have a good reputation. ATK is based out of Santa Ana, Ca in the US, and has additional offices in Mexico and Europe. Incidently, ATK is the only engine remanufacturer that is QS9001 and TS16949 certified, they also won the Frost and Sullivan award for customer satisfaction in 2007. You can't go wrong with either company. Check the warranty that is offered and do your research.

Best of luck!

Scott
