My 94 cruiser is starting to show signs of age.

As part of my maintenance, should I rebuild or simply clean the engine? I will probably take it apart just to examine everything and learn a little bit.

:hmm: Is there a market for rebuilt 1FZ-FE's?

What do you mean clean the engine? I'm not sure 177k is something to worry about unless you're noticing specific problems. If you are having specific problems with the engine itself I don't think taking it apart, cleaning it, and putting it back together is going to make much of a difference.

I have a friend with a freshly rebuilt 1fz sitting in his shop ready for an install. I think something like 3500 turn key.

What maintenance does it need?
Using OEM parts?
You may want to get the motor decarboned either at a shop or with Seafoam.
BG has a motor cleaner that a repair shop can run through your motor to clean the upper part of your motor.
Many on Bobistheoilguy.com use AutoRX in the oil with great luck.

Unless there is something wrong with your motor, its too young to be wore out.
