So good to know, Thanks!!!

Porter! You are the man. I experienced the same issue as others above. Just ordered 5 from Toyotaonlineparts in Virgina as even my local AZ Lexus and Toyota dealers said these were non existent. I modified a metric screw from Ace hardware but couldn't get the angle of the tip quite right. Thank you for saving us on this!!!

Does anyone have the secret to snapping the mirror back into the mount on the windshield?

In case anyone reads this thread in the future, my 2001 LX 470 mirror fell off last night & the previous owner had already stripped the heads of the 2 screws that attach the metal plate to the windshield. I salvaged 2 screws out of an old car cassette player that I had stored. Exact match and the screws are made out of tougher material.

Now, I am trying to find out what the purpose of the big black pad thing that the metal button attached too?

Does anyone know the part number for the two screws that go into the rearview mirror base? Mine are dangerously close to being stripped and I don't want them to get stuck. It's the tiny two screws that go into the holes on this base.

I'm looking for the same screw and I think I might have found it. Lexus Part No: 87929-60020 Screw, Outer Mirror.

Found it for sale here: 87929-60020 - Genuine Lexus SCREW, OUTER MIRROR

I just purchased, so I'll follow up to confirm when it arrives.

I think this is it, as well. I also ordered that part and it should be showing up either today or tomorrow. Will also report back.

After reading this thread, it motivated me to go tighten those 2 screws because it was loose and wobbling around the rear view over bumps.

Sorry for your loss :D

Be careful when tightening and use the right size screw driver. The screws are very soft and easy to strip out.

Yeah, definitely. I had to use a smaller screw driver but managed to get it nice and tight.

So this weekend driving on some gnarly washboards my mirror fell off, one of the small inner screws was just missing and the other seems stripped and won’t tighten. Can the inner screws be ordered? Anyone find a replacement at a big box store?

No big box replacement that anyone has found up to this point. I ordered them from my dealer - you'll need to order two. 87929-60020

I ordered four just to have some spares

Be careful to use the correct screw driver, they are very soft screws and they strip easily.

@Sacairwilco I would start by going to a hardware store and looking for the below screw. I ordered the replacement part online and paid a stupid rate for shipping. So when the replacement part came in, I took it to Ace and matched it up to--what looks like--an exact replacement. I would definitely try this first.

@Sacairwilco I also can't tell very well from the photo what screw you need. I assume you need the small screw that goes into the base, one of the two screws shown here on the left and right side.

So I went to ACE and bought that part but it seems like the screws are about 2mm too long. They hold the base plate but it’s very loose, going back to see if they have 5-6mm ones tomorrow

This is what I did just the other day. My mirror was loose. Tightened them up. Got loose again. The screw-heads were stripped. Went to Ace Hardware got the M3 screws for $.04 and so far so good.

Looking for a replacement in Canada…dealer says the set screw needs to come from California…2-3weeks. I appreciate this being identified though.
