I have the stock rear view mirror to install in my 71 55. The headliner covered the location where it is to mount. I was hoping someone could give me a measurement or some directions. Possibly a picture might help. I have no idea if it is centered, high or low in the headliner.
I was going to poke around with a pin but though before I put 50 holes in it, I could get some idea where to start.

Any help is good help!

On my 72 it's midline(left to right), and close to the windshield(towards the front)

I don't have any picture capabilities right now(out of town), but if nobody's posted up pics by this weekend, I'll go take some pictures once I'm home, and get some measurements for you.

That link helps quite a bit!
I can't feel the screw holes through the liner so I am going to print a few of these pics and start with a pin and go from there.

Thanks again!!!!!!

don't know if this helps, but here's the roof section from a 78. it's the holes in the middle of what's left of the headliner, not the little black bracket.

mine came without headliner or bows; am traveling out of town but will try to get pix early next week if no one else has posted them; the rear view mirrors are different in that the sun visors on later pigs mounted on the windshield frame; early ones had them mounted to the rear view mirror bracket; that is the part that is clipped on and can be pulled out to shade from the window side;

I am going to try to solve it this weekend. Any more feedback will help. Mine is a 71. I ran over at lunch again to see if I can feel the holes, but can't. It looks like the visors do mount to the mirror some how as well.

Thanks to all for the help. This may be the first of many more stupid re-assssembly questions. I am trying to put the thing back together for Spring. It would be easier if there was another around. But seeing as I live above Chicago....There aren't too many locally. Gumby is an hour from me ans might be the closest one I know if.

.

the visors should have rods sticking out at the end toward teh middle. the rods slip into the notched section on the mirror mount. not a great pic, but you can kind of see the rod in this mirror.

the rod does not go all the way through (not the same section that the visor hinges/mounts with). it's only about 3-4" long.

That looks like the ones that came with mine. I wasn't planning on putting them on cause I am guessing the way I wheel, they will drop down too much. Now this has me thinking it might be easy enough to mount them up. More holes to fins with the pin ay!!!!

Thanks again for the help on this! I was able to find the holes with a pin. I am cleanig up the visors and will try to do them Sunday.

Now I am trying to find the interior light location......no idea yet except for the pin....I will look again at the pics I find..

How far from the rear view mirroe is that roughly? Gave up with the pin til' I get a better idea. Takes too long!
I realized I can't mount the visors cause the plastic part that holds then is broiken. Time to hunt for one of those....will it ever come together?!
