Rear perry bumps on 19 lx570. Need assistance

Im finally trying to install my perry extended bumps after spending a few hours installing the E&E rear shock locator... which if i were to be honest not the most pleasant install to date!

With the shock relocated and sensor adjusted i really need to install the extended bumps. For the life of me I cannot seem to get 2 simple screws in. I can start one fine but the 2nd will go in at an angle. Anyone have this issue? I read Perry's install guide but im unable to install on either side.

With the provided plate its nearly impossible to get both screws started at the same time.

Thoughts?

For reference, I tried to align what I got with the oem bumps and u can see its off.. or its gunna be super tight.

Can you enlarge the holes in the spacer to allow better alignment?

Yea I could increase the slot more, maybe .100" on each side. This might give me a tiny bit more wiggle however bolt is centered via the rivnut inside the bump. Doesn't give much play when the rivnut is fully seated.

Im hoping someone had similar issues and was able to get it installed with a trick before I mod anything lol

Reach out to them, there was a bad batch of plates and bumps that were just not aligned. They're sending a new set my way, I had the same exact problem (got mine around January time)

Funny you mentioned jan, I too ordered in late January. Thanks for the heads up

While I put the rears on hold I installed the front bumps along with the E&E spacers. Original ones were pretty tight in there but a xl plumbers wrench did the trick.

I think for me the difficult part was fighting the shock. Trying to maneuver an erected shock made the task long and hard.

Hindsight, if I were to do it again I would bleed and depresssureize the rear actuators before doing the job again... Just got lazy and it made things more painful.

Ah, do you think I should put something into the instructions that tells the installer to fully extend the rear suspension during the install? That way you don't have to fight the shock pressure to get things aligned correctly?

I had the rear suspension on full droop but still had to fight it. After spending some time figuring it out on the first side, the second side went in without too much work.

One thing certain though, in order to get the main shock bolt threaded (with the insert and all) youll need to load the suspension by using a jack to jack it up. Doing so will center the eyelet so the bolt can reach the threaded portion.

This kind of stuff is par for the course when installing suspension. Yeah, there's a few tricks and games that can be played where experience makes things 100% easier.

Good that you got it figured out. Bonus points for Crocs as my preferred install footwear.

I was able to eventually get them both threaded and then properly installed after some muscling and cursing. Get one side threaded just a few turns then use a 6" or similar socket extension so you can push the other bolt straight into alignment and upwards while you then thread it in by turning the wrench with the other hand. PITA. What should have been a 15 min install turned into about 90 minutes for me. I didn't think about contacting them about it in the moment.

I’d reach out, I’m always cautious of putting too much sideways stress on captive frame nuts. They’ve been awesome

Surprised you were able to get it installed. But yea it should have been a quick install... Removing the old bumps from both sides took less than a minute with an impact haha.

Was able to get a reply from Perry. They will be sending the revised plate today via Priority. Good customer service.

On a positive note, the front bump stop performance is a huge improvement. I hit some railroad tracks at speed — the kind that crest into a little hill, almost like a mini whoop — and the difference was immediately noticeable.

With the OEM bump stops, I could feel the LCA slam into them hard, sending a pretty nasty shock straight through the cabin. Now it’s just butter smooth. It honestly reminds me of my old GX470 setup with 2.5 Radflos and DuroBumps.

I was too. I'm built like a string bean haha.
 
I’ll probably just roll with them since they’re on. My issue seemed to be more with the bump itself. The plate had plenty of room in the bolt holes to play with and sat flush to the frame. But the top of the bump was a little banana-shaped so the bolts diverged from each other ever so slightly to make threading them in hard. You can kind of see it from this photo. With everything torqued down it all sits flush so I figure it’s probably good to go.

The flatbess difference is probably the way thr 3d part cooled down. Shouldnt be a problem at all so thats good.
 
And we are back! Got the new plates from Perry. Also longer bolts which i was hoping to get since the original bolts didnt feel long enough.

Install wasn't super super smooth but with a bit of elbow grease I was able to persuade the bolts to bite correctly.
