my daughter has an 09 GX470 that has recently started feeling very bouncy in rear end. She can stop the vehicle, turn off the engine, lock the doors and unlock and start engine again and it is normal. Happens every few days. Air bags raise and lower when height control is adjusted. doesn't appear to be lower in the morning after sitting overnight. Local mechanic says he thinks it is a sensor issue, and there is a P2772 code but not sure that explains the bouncy rear end. Thanks

I don't think that code explains your bounciness either. I would be inclined the shocks are bad. They are easy to replace and inexpensive. Check out the Luftmeister shocks on Amazon. They felt great before I went for a lift.

Thanks. I had local Toyota dealership mechanic tell me shocks were ok. (He just pushed down on bumper to see if they bounced, and said they were fine.). Because it fixes itself when she turns off car and restarts I was thinking a sensor or something electronic.

When the gx470 is bouncy, open the windows and turn off the radio so you can listen for the air compressor pumping air to the air springs.

If it is, then it could be the sensor going bad and making the compressor go in when not needed.

And then do the park, turn off, turn back on and listen to the air compressor maybe release air from the air springs.

It seems the rear suspension sensors are not working properly. I am a new GX470 owner but have experience the sensors not working. They stopped working for me after I pressure washed the under carriage. The fix for me was to liberally spray the sensors with WD-40. Curious, does this happen after driving in the rain?

She has said that it doesn't seem to be related to washing the undercarriage or big rain. Tonight, for the first time, she is unable to "fix"it by stopping and restarting the vehicle. I guess tomorrow I will have the air springs evaluated.

Set the rear air springs to lo…and drive away. The system is supposed to raise it back to normal on its own once you reach 30 mph or so.

I am unable to get the height to change at all. Light stays in middle and won’t go up or down. Don’t hear the pump when car starts either. May look into AHC delete if this is going to be expensive repair.

Not a bad idea, and not a hard job either.

Took the bags off and replaced with springs. Rides great. Highly recommend.
Thanks to everyone who opined.
