What is the 'trick' for removing the interior latch handle on the BJ-74 rear door? I removed the screw but the latch does not come loose.

The wire harness that goes to the door broke and disappeared into the door. I need to remove the door panel to access the harness, but the latch prevents panel removal.

Suggestions?

Do you mean the plastic bit on the inside? I think its the same as the front doors. Once the screw is out, you slide it to one side. Then it pops off and you can remove the clip that holds the rod

Slide it to the left if you are facing it.

Errrr, thinking about it now it could be to the right! I installed mine the other day and may be thinking slide it left to install. Ya I think that is right, slide it to the right to remove and to the left to install.

Cheers

It slides away from the screw
