Below is a kit from Trail-Gear.

Instead of using something like that, I instead modified some brakets from Ebay and used 85 front brake hardware. The drums press apart and the flanges need to be hit with a grinder to clearance for the rotors.

I used these which weren't spaced right for my '85 calipers, so I added 3/16" to the portion that the calipe bolts to. They work great and the entire setup probably cost me less than $50. It would be closer to $100 if you have to purchase all of the parts.

anyone ever use the rear disk brakes off of a late 80's Isuzu Trooper?

I remember seeing a thread in this section mentioning someone wanting to do this.

One can find the re manufactured calipers for $40 each, plus a $20 bracket, then rotors and pads.

Just a thought.

You can make anything fit with a bit of fab. Factors to worry about are rotor / caliper spacing and whether or not you can move the fluid without hitting the floor. Bigger master cylinder and booster usually come with this conversion.
