You can easily buy those blank panels where the manual seat releases go. I picked them up a couple of years ago on partssouq when I removed everything from my third row.

I wonder if they are using the existing captive nut for the front mount? I used that as a mounting point for a Raingler net.

We've found these retractable covers fairly useless and have removed them from every vehicle we’ve owned that has had them. A dark blanket is more useful for large items and is more versatile.

It might be the same place you are using. See pic below.

My cover is doing an excellent job of taking up space in one of our closets. It's occupying the same spot that one of our old 4Runners cover was stored. Keeps the closet from getting lonely I guess.

LOL! I understand the cover isn't useful for every case. My wife really likes having one and used it in other vehicles we've had in the past.

Maybe someone here that doesn't use theirs will sell it cheap!

I highlighted the really important part of this. And I have to keep mine so that some day (when 300s come out) we can sell it back with all the OEM stuff. My HE basket is around here somewhere too.

Did you take the side panel off to find the threaded hole when you installed that Raingler net?

It isn’t difficult at all. The worst thing that can happen is some damaged plastic clips that are easily replaced - odds are you won’t even have that happen.

I know this is an old thread, but I was in the same situation as the OP—looking for a way to hide cargo even when the rear hatch is open.

For pretty cheap, you can make a cargo cover from a piece of stretch fabric, a grommet kit, and a roll of elastic cord (all from a fabric store). Unlike a tonneau cover, the stretch fabric accommodates cargo past the headrest level and allows rear passengers easy access.

The six attachment points are obviously not structural, but are plenty for this.

If I were to do it again I would place the fabric under a little more tension since it tends to sag after a few years of use. As you can see in these photos.

That's amazing! Looks like a really great solution.

FWIW, we did end up removing the rear seats and installing 1 locking ARB drawer on the driver side for valuables. I'm happy to report that after a 9 week drive across the US we had 0 problems.

Hi Charlie, do you have the part number for the blank panels for the manual seat release? For the life of me I cannot find them. Thank you, Alex
