when waterproof storage is more important than fuel...

1/8" deeper and it wouldn't have fit

and still a bit of room on the side for the extra axe or block or ?

and perfect for a strap from bottom through handle over top and back down. And if you're wondering, it isn't going anywhere. Pretty tightly in there.

I'll admit: elegant it ain't..., but eh $5 on CL and may come in handy.

Other thought: there is probably a shorter one out there that has the same base given the military's propensity for standardization. I will look in my pile.

:)

added: seems like it's for 120mm mortar rounds

and you opened the box, maybe it's a 120mm mortar rounds in inside :hillbilly::doh:?
nice score for $5

one can never go out in the boonies with too much firepower... :D

the beauty -well OK, not beauty, let's say the nice thing- about this is how well it fits in the carrier. As if it were custom made for it. Very snug. With a strap it's not going to move much if at all and I would even be comfortable driving with it unstrapped under mild dirt conditions. Lots of storage and especially great for longish items evidently (more firepower? :D). I bought it on a whim and gambled that it might fit in the carrier but of course it can be used on the roof rack or inside too. I gotta check the lower cans, I bet I can find one that fits great too.

thought I'd put that out there for your entertainment... :)

i scored on of those bad boys at the army surplus a while back. think i paid 20 which is still a good deal. 5$ is a steal!!!
