1981 Pickup...stock 22R with Aisin Carb. Was having issues over the weekend with hard starts...so cleaned up the carb as best I could and still had problems. Watched the gas in the bowl leak out. So.....rebuilt the carb Sunday Night/Last night. Got it all mounted up tonight and runs great....BUT...the gas is still leaking out of the bowl.:crybaby: Takes longer than before, but still happening.

So...can anybody help me out? My wife wants her car back and I want to drive my truck to work tomorrow. Not sure if that is going to happen.

There are no leaks on the outside of the carb. I don't smell any strong gas odor from the carb either.

pull the line off closest to the front of the truck, between the carb and valve cover.

It should go to a 3 port vacuum switch... Pull it at it's lowest point and see if gas runs out.

The AAP is the one I'm talking about.

Dry. I replaced the AAP insides when I rebuilt the carb.

It's moved from about the upper level of the normal operating point on the sight glass to just below the sight glass in the bowl in about 4 hours.

I wonder if... Is there a check valve in the fuel pump?

Does the bowl have anything to do with the fuel pump?

no.... that's not it...

Well, as far as that picture, I took that little piece out and put it back in (i believe the correct way) when I put the carb back together along with a new seal.

Two updates. Last night, I drove to Wal Mart (about 5 minutes away) and picked up some starter fluid just in case I needed it. Came back out to the truck and it had a hard time starting :( ....but finally got going.

Drove home and looked at the window on the fuel bowl and it was to the top of the screws. So...put the air cleaner back on and decided to give it a break

Woke up this morning and hopped in the truck not knowing what to expect. Surprisingly, it cranked right up....very easily. Sooo....drove it to work. We'll see what happens tonight. Still kinda boggling my mind about where the fuel is going if the sight glass has less fuel in there.
