On my '97, there is a 15amp EFI fuse under the bonnet, in the fuse box behind the main battery. It is a standard automotive blade fuse. There is also an EFI relay.

What B and Semlin said. I just went and looked. I couldn't remember well enough when I wrote my the last post and I didn't have the truck to go check what was going on. Round metal thing has 4 inputs which makes it a relay. In the same box is the 15 amp efi fuse. I was going to take a picture and circle the 2 but the camera is dead.

Where's the horse beating icon when you need it? ;p

Go with the advice on the fuel.

Relay is relay - fuse is fuse. I'm retarded. Replaced fuse and good to go.

Some sputtering and truck died on first initial starts, but seems to be OK now.
Computer resetting itself? What would retard the idle speed on restart?

And the big question - what makes the EFI fuse fail?

Thanks for all the help folks. I appreciate your input very much. Dave

Get your self the EWD book and trace down the efi circuit and look to see where it could go to ground. That will take a fuse out. Common places , the wiring harness at the back of the engine, Wires behind the firewall and before the glove compartment, going to the computer. O2 sensor wires rubbing through and grounding against the frame. those are the common ones, you may have a uncommon one, that is why I suggested the EWD and tracing the circuit. later robbie

What Robbie just said.

Betcha you have a wire shorting out somewhere.

I had problems with the harness that goes to my O2 sensors on my old 94.

On the Gatekeeper obstacle on the last Rubicon trip, I fried a few EFI fuses...haven't tracked that one down yet...but have had no problems since.
