Hey fellers

My 3VZE has started bleeding fuel where the rubber hose connects back to the hard line, here: (BTW, that's a mirror, for a better angle. . .not another line coming in ;))

Does this joint come apart without ripping and tearing?

As far as replacement goes, Napa and O'Reilly don't show anything like this (that I can find) on their websites. Does it have to come from a dealer? Or do I just whack it off, get some fuel hose, and clamp it on?

Thanks!

That doesnt look good to me...

1st thing that jumps to the top is it's at the crimp. That means replace the component to me.

2nd, I doubt I'd try and fix that with a cut and splice... Seems the pressures might be so high it might blow it off,,, or else Toyota might have done that there. Hence, there's a reason for it.

I'd bite the bullet and got to Toyota for the part and get ready to grit your teeth... NOTHING is fun to do on a 3.0 IMO.

Your results may vary... But that's how I'd fix it.

Thanks Hilux. That's what I figured. . .don't clamp where Toyota crimped.

But I'm still lost. Does that come apart, or is it considered a single unit?

Also, why doesn't my FSM (I have the online version, from the FAQ) have pictures of this? Is it that simple and still over my head? :bang:

It's been a while since I've been there, and I hope we're talking about the same place...

Is that the pressure fuel line?

IIR, and it was a b**** last time I done it... And that was with the engine out!

I think all you need is a 10mm line wrench and just pop it loose from the back side. I can't recall if there is a small piece of metal, a clip that holds the upper side or not.

Seems like there's a break there... Then pull the banjo and go...

I THINK...

Yes, I'm pretty sure it's the pressure fuel line. It is definitely cramped back there.

I don't know if it makes any difference, but it only really leaks when it's freaking cold out (-20F this morning), so assumed that it was a rubber problem.

I've broken the hard line feeding the cold start injector. I blocked the CS line with a piece of EFI hose clamped to a bolt, not recommended but it works in a pinch.

If you're near a truck shop (semi that is) they might be able to make one. Every hard line/crimped factory fuel line I've needed was only available from the stealership.

I called the dealership this morning. $103 for the whole thing (rubber and hard line), so no flare fittings for me, thank you very much. I suppose I'll have to pull the intake off so I can get to that banjo fitting.

reach back there and feel for it... IIR, you can get it w/o tearing it off...

It's been a while so I may be wrong.

1st thing I'd do anyway is see if I can get to the lower part with a 10mm wrench. If you can't then it's worthless to go through the trouble of getting a line wrench...

And depending on your skill level you might want to get a mechanic to do it.

I finally got a a chance to get this done. For the record, I did have to pull the intake off -- no way to get a wrench on the bolt that connects the banjo to the fuel rail otherwise. I took good photos of the hoses before I took them off. Once I had everything apart, it took exactly an hour to put it all back together. :)
