Hey all,

The paint on my truck has faded pretty good and the hood is starting to peel. A lot of clear coat is gone already. What I would like to do is even out a little and reapply some clear coat to protect the truck.

My thought is to lightly wet sand with 600, clean, spray clear (dupli-color spray clear), wet sand 1000, and then use a rubbing compound.

I am only looking for a temp solution. I am going to get the truck professionally painted in a few years.

Thoughts?

600 may be too coarse especially if the clear is totally gone exposing the factory base coat. I would try 1000 first and see how that cuts. It's always better to start with fine paper and work your way to coarser stuff as you go.
