Welp, I fear the rocks MUCH less after this week! Dropped off the cruzr over at Michael Bowen's a week ago and picked it up last night.

Went with a welded on setup mostly because the sheer amount of time for him to do bolt ons and I have my exhaust work done now so hoping to not do any more for a LONG time!

Caty is really only thing still in danger / we might try to plate under it or something but for now I feel ok and I know the rockers are guarded vs the ledge before Kodak area on RML!!

haha, that's funny! I took him the CAD drawings for George's slider design about 4 years ago and helped him weld mine up. We just didn't add any outer tubing on mine (wish we had). He wanted $200 last summer to add the tubing! I said no thanks.

Anyway, awesome job! Now you can wheel the snot out of it and not worry. I actually like to try to hit mine some just to make them worth it.

Isn't his screen name on nc4x4.com tacoma747?

EDIT: Dang man, i really hate to say this, but Michael knows better than to build those things so tight to the pinch weld. If you land on them they will deflect and bend the pinch weld. Not a huge deal, but still, he should have known after mine to space the down at least 1 inch off the pinch weld.

Do you mind me asking how much your sliders cost? I'm on the wait list to have a Hanna set built. I need to touch base with Ken, but I probably won't even get them until mid-June. :-(

Yep, Michael it Tacoma747 on there and he and I actually talked about the pinch weld. I prefer it closer to the pinch weld / don't mind it deflecting up and denting it a bit VS hanging down another inch since I won't have much lift on it. Ground clearance was more important.

Outer rails were a must in my case, wife gets in/out at times and they really help her.

Oh, and I am sure he can build them for the 62 and the other 80 mentioned as well.

For true bolt on's like concretes, he is gonna be $$$ (close to same as the big boys on here) just because of the sheer amount of time. The nice part about that though is if you have a funny place caty, etc then he can work around it.

I originally wanted bolt ons, but was going to cost me to much ground clearance so I told him work around the caty and keep me tucked up as much as possible.

I really don't want to put a price on here because I traded back / forth with him on other stuff (he built something else / plus dad painted something for him, we have swapped quite a bit)

I will give you his number though if you want. Best thing would be if you can live without the rig for a bit, I just dropped mine off and left it for him to work on. He is about to get married / move into their new home in the next month or so, so busy boy!!

Let me know....there are several folks in the area and probably a few closer to you (NC4x4.com forum is a good resource for that kind of thing)

Sam told me to come over here that a couple guys may be interested in sliders. Anyways, just PM me. But I won't be able to start anything till mid June.

I kept them close to the pinch seam because I have found the closer you keep them the better. The pinch seam will act as extra support (dang cruisers are heavy), and the dents in the seam don't affect anything anyways.

Alex, I don't know why I told you $200, not sure what exactly I was thinking, but if you want to PM me or something I can definetly do better than that if you still want those outer tubes. Cya

Congrats on getting buried....i mean married Michael!

I agree, the pinch weld doesn't really matter much, so i don't mind denting mine at all. I just know that they will buzz and rattle when the tolerances are so close and the truck is running.

I still like mine a lot.

I will PM you about some outer tubing.

Some more additions over the last couple of days!! Added a 7 pin brake plug and brake controller and airbags in the rear coils! Getting ready to tow the camper this weekend.

25 psi in the rear bags at the moment / gives me a bit of lift in the rear!! :)

I am guessing that just moving up to 2.5" OME medium coils at some point, I should still be able to use the airbags!? That or I suppose I could add bags in the front coils and get lift on both ends that way, heh!!

what brand of bags are those? I'm sure they make a taller bag for if you go up on your lift spring size. Speculating here.....

Hey Sam, looks good. I just pulled a fairly heavy trailer this past weekend, about 5 hours total travel time and with the OME heavies it was great, it rode like a dream (minus the under powered part) and it didnt even squat in the rear, just leveled it out temporarily getting rid of the stinkbug. If you tow alot you may want to go with the heavies.

AirLift 1000 is the brand/model of what I put in there! I suspect a 2.5" lift will be ok, will have to look at the bags though to make sure they are tall enough. I was surprised to see how much 'lift' I got with them! Ride was decent too at 25psi.

I will bump them to 35psi per the instructions before loading the camper. We have swaybar/weight distributing hitch on it so I think this combo will work nicely.

OME heavies might be too much considering I will be keeping the stock rear bumpers and just don't carry "that" much on the trail. My "on the trail" gear is the ReadyWelder, my tool kit, straps/dring and tire plug kit. (first aid too...)

But as you mentioned, if towing the heavy offsets that 500ish of weight on the tongue/hitch. Bags will offset for now but if they are too short that might be a good alternate. (Springs are 200ish, bags are 100ish)

I see the guy who traded me for the 80 has got it up for sale! He is down to $4500 obo, for a rig locked F&R, sliders already done.

AFAIK it has not had the head gasket - did not see it in the paperwork from the PO and I did not do it... Looks like he upgraded the speakers in the rig and replaced the bumper corner.

Just thought I would mention it since it has been an ONSC rig in the past..
