radio periodically goes silent for three of four seconds but not CD's?

is there a good reason my radio would periodically cut out and go silent for three or four seconds and then come back on?
i'm thinking to pull the radio fuse and try to reset it?
any ideas?

Not much info to go on here. Does it do this both on AM and FM? Does it happen on more than one station? How far away is the transmitter of the station from you? Radio reception itself can be intermittent.

sorry. it did it once before. i'm on an FM station. i can try another station. i dont really use AM but could also try that now that you mention it.
it's a local station that never cut out before and its doing it like every two or three minutes for like three or four seconds.
it's really odd and all i could wrap my head around was to somehow turn it off and in like my phone with cell reception.
but honestly i barely know how analog radios work so i can't even begin to think about how a digital radio works and i have no idea what is being sent through the ether these days anyhow but i guess its the same stuff.

Since it seems that the head unit in your rig has radio and CD functions and only radio is affected, you might check the antenna connection on the rear of your head unit. It might have vibrated loose. It is only a friction plug and is possible over time to work loose. This involves partially removing parts of the dash plus being a contortionist will help access the rear of the head unit. (Sorry about the sarcasm, but when you're in your seventies, you'll understand the humor - or lack of it...lol)
