I was wheeling my new to me 2003 LX470 a while back and noticed, at idle, my fan was lightly rubbing my fan shroud. discovered fan shroud was cracked, hence hitting the fan.
I'm about to order a new shroud, and thought to myself, "could it have been the old motor mounts allowing drivetrain play that caused the fan to hit the shroud and break it?"
230k plus on the rig.. 23yo rubber.. should I replace those motor mounts now? or can I check them with a pry bar for play before I go and spend 300 bucks on mounts. Hate to bust another fan shroud (my guess is - probably just age related failure) if the motor mounts had something to do with it
