Pretty basic question here......

I think my radiator cap is defective, what should I replace it with, are they all the same size? What lbs rating should I get for a stock 4-core radiator (the heavy duty model from radiator barn). It's cooling a Chevy 350.

I don't think the cap is sealing correctly. A small amount of coolant was coming out of the neck where the cap sits when the engine was fairly cool (160ish) rather then going into the over-flow tank. This is the first time I have seen it do this. I did drain some coolant when I removed my heater last week, but I topped it off and burped the system.

Thanks!

I generally run a 16 - 17lb cap with a chevy. I think a stock cruiser cap is 13lbs. The extra lbs with increase the boiling point. This is a good thing when running a v-8.

I would stick w/stock - 13lbs.
If your concerned about boiling points, add a shroud or a pusher-fan...

So far my temps seem to stay around 190ish with the taurus fan and the new four core rad. Although, it hasn't gotten too hot out here yet.....

I'll go for the 13lbs cap and see how it goes.

Thanks for the input
