I just bought a locked 96 145k for $6995 and it needs alot less work than that one.

I never look at 80's with less than 130k on them, that's the $5000 difference in the sellers mind.

Wow... that is obscene..

I found a 1996 Cruiser I planned on buying, the dealer checked it out and gave me a list of little crap it needed, front brakes and some things I expect. The only thing I was worried about was he said it needs the trunion seals replaced.

1996 Landcruiser
105K
Two Owner
Locked

$11,000

Sounds like a good deal to me if you can do the work yourself like you said. I would try and negotiate with the dealer if you can.. also selling the idea or alluding to the dealer that you would "possibly" get some of the stuff worked on at the dealership in hopes to lower the sale price of the car.. not very likely but worth a shot.. and then just do the maintenance yourself!

eBay, fine place but the reserve is never met so screww it.

Just an afterthought....don't wait for a car to go the distance on eBay...you'll loose every time. Unlike a $300 item where people will hold out, most folks selling cars on eBay (especially individuals) want them sold immediately. When I see a vehicle I like on eBay, I instantly try and get the seller engaged in a discussion about a direct sale.

One other note.....one of the main reasons some individuals sell cars in Autotrader is they don't know how to use eBay. That's right....my local rep for Autotraderonline told me that more than 50% of their private sellers indicate they are eBay illiterate. When I found my truck, the seller (who had it listed in Autotrader) couldn't even figure out how to email me pics, I had to open a Yahoo account for him and walk him through it. Right then I knew that his computer illiteracy would run off most other buyers....to my advantage.

I think that is a good deal if the truck is otherwise clean. I'd snap it up, personally.

As others have said, the stuff you mention is all simple maintenance that you can do for not a lot of money if you do the work yourself.
