Headed to the Eastern Sierra for a few days.

Picked up my buddy at 2 am and got on the lake about 8 am.

Got into a decent bite. But we only fished here for a few hours.

We took off from the lake and set up camp at about noon. Afterwards, we headed to Hot Creek. Fishing there was good as it usually is.

We got back and joined the rest of the crew for a good dinner and brews.

The next day we helped DFG with electroshocking Hot Creek for their fish survey.

We had to leave early because we had to give a friend a ride home, his brother went into surgery, but we stopped at Hot Creek in the morning and got into a few more rainbows before the ride home.

Quick is relative term. We left Friday at 2 pm, and returned at 9 pm Sunday. Usually takes about 4 hours each way. But we've done "suicide" day runs, one-nighters, and multi-nighters.

The weather was good, slightly cooler than normal. Highs were in the 80's, lows in the upper 30's to low forties. The water temps were all in the high 60's or lower and getting cooler as we get into the fall. The next few weeks should be real good.

Hit me up if you and your son ever want to join us. We have plenty of extra gear. We probably go fishing at least once a month.

I need to take you up on it. Your impromptu fly fishing lessons for Yellowstone were not totally in vain!

Let me know the next run. I'm not traveling til Japan in Nov. so my weekends are kinda sorta open.

Looks like a great trip!! So jealous

There's plenty of time for you to head up there. I think the bite at Crowley will remain good until the first few 30 degree nights.

I've got some good flies for Crowley and Hot Creek. PM me if you want the pattern description.
