HI everyone,

I was wondering if someone could explain how the larger type brake booster for front disc brakes on a Fj55 works.

What is a proportioning valve, and what does it do? Any pics?
How does the booster work to boost the brake pressure?

Thanks for your help!

booster/prop. valve

I use a 2nd gen. 4runner master/booster on my 71 55,and it works well. The prop.valve allows you to cut flow to the drums, since they require less pressure to work properly than the front disc.Mine is mounted right off the master for the rear brakes.Remove residual valves if used.

Thanks for the advice, i may consider that if the one I have doesnt work.

I have a late 70's FJ55 booster (intended for front disc) and want to install it on a'73. Do I need a proportioning valve to use it? How does it hook up to a '73 with a 2F? Is it work it?

Thanks
lee

Lee, use the booster and brake master from the disc brake truck you have. That will have all the right bits to work with the discs. Are you around on Monday AM?
