What would you guys run for backspacing on a 37x12.5 tire? The set I've found locally has a 3.5" backspacing, I have 1.25" spacers so it comes out to 2.25" w/spacers.

Will this work w/o rubbing?
Should I run the spacers?
Will i need to adjust my steering stops?

I stole the Top Shift case out of my 1st gen to go with duals soon, however, my 4.7 gears are in the FWD shift case and Marlin/TG both cautioned me from running them like that...

Can I convert my FWD shift case to top shift and vice versa using the parts from the cases I have? Or would it be faster/Easier to just clearance the other case and put the 4.7 kit in it?

I would prefer to keep the case that is already 4.7'd in the rear as the drive flanges have no play in then, while the old top shift case has some movement with the front flange...

Doing my RUF this weekend, planning it like this;

Leaf 1 '83 Main
Leaf 2 '83 Mil Wrap
Leaf 3 '83 stock 3rd
Leaf 4 '88 Main cut 3" shorter then 3
Leaf 5 '88 Mil Wrap cut 3" shorter then 4
Drivers Side Leaf 6(Cut down overload(It's 3/8"))

it's identical to 4runner Freaks and he got 4-5" of lift out of it. I might have to put a one inch block on the rear 63 swap to get it to level out right...

got gears from JTDifferentials arriving tomorrow, cutting my custom 63" swap brackets Sunday... Gonna be another VERY long weekend... Gotta order a HySteer kit from someone...

Does anyone have dimensions on the IFS steering mount marlin sells? I've got a 4x8' peice of 1/4" and 3/16" and 1/8" here that i bought for cheap a couple of years ago, and it needs used... I'd rather make it myself then pay for it.

Thanks!

rims and spacers sound about right.
I am running 2.5 back space with 36 inch swampers on a 8 inch wide rim. I adjusted the steering and bump stops so the big lugs just touch the springs at full turn.

sounds like you will have to turn your 4.7 into a top shift.
I am not sure if you can get one shift fork out and replace it with out pulling the case apart or not.
I have gotten the shift rails out.
see my write up on the trail gear site on removing the inter lock pin. but I am not sure if the shift fork would come out.

there are write ups on how to turn the forward shift forks and rails into top shift. I don't have it handy. need cut off wheel and a welder.

I have a steering box plate that I made up. no measurements but there are pictures in the faq of the ones that I built.

also there are pictures on how to remount your front hard lines so you don't have to buy longer ones. it has worked great on my wife's truck. easy to get new stock lines also.

good luck.

New arrangement for the RUF list...

Leaf 1 '84 Main
Leaf 2 '84 Mil Wrap
Leaf 3 '84 stock 3rd
Leaf 4 '82 Main cut 3" shorter then 3
Leaf 5 '82 Mil Wrap cut 3" shorter then 4
Drivers Side Leaf 6(Cut down overload(It's 3/8"))

Everything is torn down and ready to be rebuilt... Its been a messy weekend so far, ready to get back out there!

Got the springs made up, almost ready to be bolted in...

I added one more bottom leaf to the pack, I would rather it be to high then low... In the pic the truck is being supported by the springs and ubolts put temporarly in for front shackle bolts. All the weight is on the truck and the shock is at full extension (stock length)... Might be a little high, but it will settle some eventually... Can't wait to get the 63's in the back, although I may need to run a small lift block to get it right...

Gears came in, taking them to the shop 2morrow for set up!

I am thinking you must have boomerangs on there or they are without a doubt hitting on the body mount in the pic. I am a bit nervous that you have one heck of a leaf pack built there..... not so much for lift but more in terms of flex. I played around with mine a little (only added one leaf to the rear pack) and while it was flexy it wasnt too soft by no means. As an FYI I am certain before I am done I will be adding a 1 - 1.5" block in the rear especially once I correct my shackle angle. But it is also hard for me to say exactly because I had 3 or 4" lift springs in the rear that I used in the front so......??

Edit: I am sure you know but if not dont forget the perch heights are different so you need to add an extra bit to the one side

Yeah, I added 3/8's to the driver side. They springs are bouncy and compressed alot, I just mixed up what other people were doing from the Ultimate RUF thread on pirate and there will be a nice bumper going on with a 10k MileMarker (free) on it, so I think the weight may make a difference...
