Hi,

A question: do you need to completely disconnect the torsion bar both at the control arm and in the back if you want to loosen it from the control arm to remove the lower control arm? Or do you just loosen the 30 mm bolt at the rear?

Yesterday- I swapped my LX470 stock bars for beefier LC bars. When through a full can of PB blaster. I took out both the 22mm front torsion bar arm and rear 30mm bolt to shimmy the bar out. The front arm once unbolted will pass back to the rear , passes back over the head of the splines. The bar didn't pop out of the front arm pocket. I had to pull the arm back to the rear, over the splines then awkwardly shimmy the back loose to get it out. Wasn't too hard just awkward

Looks like you just need to hit the bracket that mounts to the lca back with a drift if just working on the lca.

The 30mm bolt at the rear is responsible for the torsional tension of the TBs so loosening it until there is no tension (for safety and convenience purposes) is Toyota’s recommended method of doing it.
