I have removed the heater as I no lomnger have a need for it - was rusted out anyway. What should I do with the hose points that circulated the water? I have capped them for now (shown on the pictures). I was thinking of joining them together with a hose. Is that ok? Will that increase cooling?

They're OK capped. Installing a hose from fitting to fitting will not add appreciable cooling.
